Trio Fantasy Camp

The Trio Fantasy Camp was formed to give Kingston Trio lovers a chance to live out their fantasy of singing with two members of the classic Kingston Trio – John Stewart and Nick Reynolds.  Fantasy Camp is held each August in Scottsdale, Arizona.  The first camp was held in 2000. With John Stewart's passing in January 2008, Fantasy Camp IX became a celebration of his life and music as well as that of the Kingston Trio.

With Nick Reynolds' passing on October 1, 2008, the future of the Trio Fantasy Camp was in question. But Bob Shane, who along with Nick and Dave Guard founded The Kingston Trio in 1957, is keeping the dream alive. The camp is now known as The Kingston Trio Fantasy Camp and will continue every August in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The camp has been extended to four days. Workshops will be conducted by Bob Shane and the current members of the Kingston Trio. The workshops will include guitar, banjo, vocal performances and stage presence.

Campers "will enjoy a welcoming Dinner followed by a Q and A session with Bob Shane and the Kingston Trio followed by a group concert. In addition, there will be two nights of performances by the Campers and, on Saturday night, a full concert by the Kingston Trio with the Campers as the opening act."*

During past Camps other former and current members of the Kingston Trio have joined the fun.  And folk legends like Travis Edmondson, Henry Diltz, George Grove, Bobby Haworth, and Bill Zorn enjoyed the experience as much as the Campers.  In 2004 Bob Shane treated the crowd to a performance of "Scotch and Soda" and reunited with Nick and John for an impromptu rendition of "Early Morning Rain.” From 2004 to 2007 Bob joined with Nick and John for several songs.

The audiences always thoroughly enjoy this weekend revival of the trio that has been loved for fifty years. Everyone is invited to see the shows. Just be sure to get your ticket ahead of time.
